We’re Looking For A: Controller

Location: Hybrid (El Segundo, CA)

What You’ll Be Doing: The Controller will be a Senior Finance Leader responsible for owning the company’s accounting function and financial close, ensuring accuracy, rigor, and scalability across a fast-growing, multi-channel consumer and CPG business. This role will play a key part in strengthening financial discipline and supporting the company’s next phase of growth.

This leader will bring strong technical accounting expertise, ideally gained in a public or public-company–ready environment, along with sound operational judgment and a collaborative mindset. They will partner closely with finance leadership, FP&A, Data & Analytics, operations, and external advisors to deliver timely, reliable financial reporting and continuously improve how the business operates.

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial statements and continuously improve close cadence, documentation, and internal controls as the business scales.
  • Build and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and controls aligned with public company requirements 
  • Lead audit readiness and manage relationships with external auditors and accounting advisors.
  • Oversee accounting for inventory, cost of goods sold, and gross margin across a complex, multi-channel consumer and CPG operating model.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams on inventory valuation, reserves, obsolescence, and demand variability.
  • Own revenue recognition across DTC, retail, wholesale, and partnership channels, including discounts, allowances, returns, and contra-revenue.
  • Partner closely with FP&A and Data & Analytics to ensure alignment between accounting results and management reporting.
  • Lead the evolution of accounting systems, processes, and tools, including ERP enhancements and close automation.
  • Ensure strong data integrity between accounting systems and downstream reporting and analytics.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team with a culture of ownership, precision, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a trusted partner to finance leadership and cross-functional teams, providing accounting insight that supports planning, forecasting, and decision-making.

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick ALL of these boxes.):

  •  8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Prior experience in consumer, CPG, retail, or e-commerce businesses with inventory and multi-channel revenue complexity.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes.
  • SEC Reporting and reviewing experience (10-Q, 10-K)
  • Experience managing state and federal tax filings 
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and accounting process transformation.
  • Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, high-growth environments with evolving systems and processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Active CPA required

The base salary range is $195,300-$260,400, plus bonus potential.
