For our inaugural episode, Noah sat down with Jim, our Health & Wellness Brand Manager, and longtime friend. Their conversation was full of career insights, wellness tips, and plenty of laughs, but also gave a real sense of what it means to live the Golden Hippo way.

From Jordan to California
Jim shared his empowering journey from growing up in Jordan to moving to Southern California in 2015. One of the biggest shocks? The openness of West Hollywood’s LGBTQ+ community after coming from a place where he couldn’t be out. For him, California represented freedom, authenticity, and the chance to build a new life. We cherish, uplift, and appreciate the diverse backgrounds of our Hippos, knowing these experiences enrich our culture and make it the inclusive, vibrant place it is today.

A Career Across Industries
Although Jim studied Industrial Design, his career led him into advertising and e-commerce. From healthcare devices to beauty and air purification products, he’s gained over 15 years of experience in the direct-to-consumer space.

Now at Golden Hippo, Jim thrives on the flexibility to explore multiple brands and take initiative:

“This is a great company. I love it from the top to the bottom. It’s very casual, people can explore, and that’s something rare.”

Jim’s Wellness Wisdom: Cold Plunges
When asked about health and wellness, Jim didn’t hesitate: cold showers and cold plunges. For him, they’ve been game changers for mental clarity, energy, and focus! At Golden Hippo, we encourage every Hippo to find the routines and practices that help them feel their best, inside and outside of work.

CC or Circle Back?
In the show’s fun segment, Noah and Jim rated workplace trends like “Coffee Badging” (popping into the office just for coffee and socializing): Jim says CC it! At Golden Hippo, our hippos believe in making the most of these moments of connection — a reflection of our collaborative culture, where building relationships drives our team success.

The pair also bonded over their shared love of pop culture — especially RuPaul’s Drag Race and horror movies. Jim shouted out some of his favorite queens (Monét X Change, Shea Couleé, Sasha Velour) and horror classics (The Exorcist, Hereditary, The Babadook). At Golden Hippo, we are so thrilled when we see employees like Noah and Jim sharing their passions — during and after office hours!

Friendship & Favorite Memories
The episode also spotlighted Jim and Noah’s friendship, from caring for Jim’s beloved bulldog, Bifi (RIP 🐾), to spontaneous dance breaks in Silver Lake. Their banter underscored the success of Golden Hippo’s culture: genuine connections that make work (and life) more fun.
